Performer’s Support Group
“In order for all of us to experience the full breadth of team human, we have to communicate. Talking about how you’re feeling is the first step to helping yourself.” — Kristen Bell
The performance arts are mentally challenging. Performers are constantly putting themselves out in front of others to be judged and compared. Their work requires continual stretching, changing, and putting on new personas. This can lead to discouragement and fatigue at disappointing outcomes. It can lead to a challenged sense of identity and self-worth. It can contribute to significant anxiety, perfectionism, and emotional distress. It can impact relationships and functioning in other areas of life. Because of the sometimes competitive nature of the work, it’s easy to feel like everybody else has it figured out and you are the only one struggling.
You are not alone.
Connect with other performers
Sometimes it’s helpful just knowing you aren’t the only one who is experiencing this. This group will also be an opportunity to learn strategies for dealing with some of these issues including:
performance/audition fatigue
anxiety, which may be related to identity, performing, auditioning, finances, relationships, etc.
comparison and perfectionism
relationship struggles
time and resource management
body image and self-esteem
The group is facilitated by a licensed therapist

““When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.””
— Fred Rogers
